Transforming the ordinary into images of complex beauty and passion

Deep Ocean

Beginning with photographs of huge oceanic space and sky, "Deep Ocean" transformed into a darker, more mysterious analog of primeval feelings about cold, deep water. It also touches archetypal instinctive responses to the three-dimensional, ever-shifting liquid depth and ceaseless motion of the ocean.

"Cafe Latte" is a celebration of warmth, friendship and affection. It is not often exhibited, yet is one of my favorite transformations. The original photograph is of a woman I respect and admire, and as I worked with this image, her smile, joyful nature and generosity of spirit seemed to flow into the work. This work contains feelings of containment, flowing energy, subtle warmth, and enduring affection. At least that's what I think - your experience may be quite different. Limited edition of 10 24 x 36" Fuji Crystal archive print on Dibond aluminum panel
Beach Umbrella

This comes from a day on the beach.. Although the scene was ordinary, the feeling of the day was anything but. It was a day of extroverted joy, a feeling of release and freedom. As I pushed, pulled, stretched and played with the pixels, I felt the same wave of exuberance flow through me. It was that sense of limitless freedom that I often felt as a child at the beach on a fine day, a feeling that I tried to embody with the bright color, flowing shapes and unusual forms of this transformed image.

The infinitely varied, eternal dance of light reflected in water, a proto-historical archetype that existed before there was memory -- yet one we've all experienced. The name comes from water (aqua) and light (quanta), transformed into a flowing abstraction that repeats an infinite loop (infinity). Thus Aquanta8. Note: the coppery bits come from good luck pennies at the bottom of the origin photograph from which this transformation was made. Exhibited at Gagliardi Gallery, London, England May 2011. Winner of Premio di Merito award at the 2010 Chianciano International Award for Digital Art and Photography in Tuscany, Italy
State of Mind

A torrent of complex flows, "State of Mind" attempts to capture the inner space of a creative person in a period of intense concentration and activity. It can be seen more broadly to represent the mentality of a person in any moment of intensity.
